Day 1

So day one is in the books. The 1st day is normally a breeze; the complication came from having company last night.
Recording everything you consume when you are enjoying an Afghan feast is difficult to say the least.
(The feast wasn’t really Afghan as my wife and I did the cooking and stuck to the usual hodgepodge theme)

21 DAY THEORY

They say with 21 days of solid repetition we can create habits around what we desire. 21 Days…. That’s quite a long time when u think about it.
I have to admit I am blessed with halfway decent will power, that being said, one goal has continued to allude me. I never successfully record information for 21 days straight.
For the next 21 days I want to track everything I eat. Not dieting so much as keeping tabs on what I put in my body and how my body reacts.
I also pledge to Blog for 21 days straight (I know, one step at a time). I will post a blog even if it’s just to say I am still on the food tracking wagon.

Saturday In DC

Finally made it out on a Saturday. The Green clan packed up and headed to DC yesterday only to find many of our old spots closed down. The economy sucks and small businesses are paying the price. The disappointment prompted me to by a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Demi Sec from our favorite little wine spot Chat’s Liquors http://www.chatsliquors.com/.

What a BLOKE!

I had a healthy Monday besides the fact I did not get to bed at a decent hour. Why didn’t I get to bed at a reasonable time?
The bloke is to blame!!!
I need to let my son know he is not going to be a gymnast. He is already too big by gymnast standards. Most male gymnast are less than 5’6 tall and 5’9 is considered a gym giant. The average weight of a gymnast is most likely around 5lb and “Mini Terry Tate” has already eclipsed that mark.
Here is the morning conversation I had with the wife while I sipped my double red eye dark roast (coffee with two espresso shots)!

WIFE [08:40]: morning
ME [08:40]: good morning
WIFE [08:41]: how did it go last night?
ME [08:41]: hahahaha
ME [08:42]: first off, your bloke thinks he is a gymnast
WIFE [08:42]: why
ME [08:42]: he spent the hour between 12am and 1am just jumping over my back
WIFE [08:42]: oh lawd
ME [08:42]: while I laid on the floor
WIFE [08:42]: what happened?
ME [08:42]: he did it 150 times
WIFE [08:42]: did what?
ME [08:42]: I was laying on the floor
ME [08:42]: he was laying next to me
ME [08:43]: all of a sudden
WIFE [08:43]: jesus christ i got that
ME [08:43]: he got up
ME [08:43]: and started diving over my back
ME [08:43]: again and again and again
WIFE [08:43]: smh
WIFE [08:50]: what time he sleep?
ME [08:55]: 130 ish

An Apple a Day!

It Monday and this is the week I turn 30! Pretty exciting stuff. I have been a total slacker for the last week or so. I have not eaten healthy, hit the gym as much or blogged. This was most likely part of my recovery from being sick the week before.
What better day than Monday to start fresh. Not even 7:30 and I have posted my first blog and ate an Apple! 30 here I come!

GRANDMAS, GOOD FOOD AND ZEE TV!

Yesterday was family day. Ran errands, went to the mall and then Grandmas. What can be more American?
One of the errands was meeting with my tattoo artist. The Tattoo gods answered my prayers. I may not get tattooed until august but at least it will be done by the best!

Please, tattoo gods shine on me!

I need everyone reading this to pray to their god(s) that my tattoo artist can fit me in to his schedule.
I have 4 tattoos by three different artists. Two of the artists are famous. Out of the two well known artists only one has done “serious” work on me. I called him this afternoon just to be greeted by his VM that said something like “I am not accepting new clients until 2020”! that statement was followed by “if we are working on something together leave your info and I will call u back”. So I left my info as if we’d been working on something, and now I must wait around for him to call me back.
Those who know me know I never answer my phone. Today I will not let my phone more than an earshot away from me. I will answer every call from an unrecognized 703 number. I will hope that luck is lady today!
I do have a back up plan. The artist that did my last tattoo is way above average and I would not be disappointed if I have to go back to him.

Wattagwan do wid de goat?

Growing up in New York you are exposed to many cultures. The cuisines of these cultures are tried and loved by many. I was raised in a community with a strong Caribbean presence. Goat was often on the menu at the house of my Jamaican “brethren”.
Being married to an Afghan I am often exposed to some of the same atypical meats of my “yout” (dpt). Afghans enjoy “de goat” almost as much as Jamaicans.
So last night my wife prepared goat in some well seasoned pickled pepper simmeration (not a word). She used a pressure cooker and consequently “de goat fell from de bone”. To all my brethren reading this post, learn to cook “de goat”! “My yout Mi love De goat!”

Yogurt Anyone?

At last a day off. I may not get around to creating a noteworthy blog entry today since my day will be devoted to family. First and foremost breakfast with the bloke!
