Toxic People

I try to live my life based on the teachings of Buddhism. One Buddhist principle I have some trouble with at times is, “May I reckon those who betray me as sacred teachers.”
In the long-term I believe I learn from every wrong or betrayal I face. In the short-term I still battle the initial anger that occurs.
“May I be moved with compassion for the pain behind the spite others may show me.” I hope I can start embracing the aforementioned principle with less trepidation.

Retrospect
You ever sit back and wonder how you hit the fast forward button in life and arrived to NOW? Usually this thought comes while you reminisce on good times and wonder what happened to the good life you once lived. On occasion someone may look back and wonder how, in spite of their past and choices made, they have been fortunate enough to get to NOW; Now being a beautiful life gained despite best efforts to the contrary.
I have somehow managed to find myself married, in love, and the father of an incredible little bloke. If you would of told me three years ago that I would walk in the door to an adorable son yelling “DADDY!” and a wife waiting with puckered lips, I would of laughed, ‘
Things have drastically changed for me. I have the same dog from 3 years ago and that is about where the similarities to my current life stop. A welcomed transmutation! It feels as if the roles I play now are the ones that were always meant for me. I imagine I had to live the life I lived to appreciate the life I have. I cherish every period of my life and every person I have been. I do hope that being a Father and a Husband are the roles that will remain germane for the rest of my days.
THE FLEEING FLEA MARKET

I recently took my wood bat for a lunchtime visit to the batting cage. The feel of hitting a 80 mph fastball with a wood bat is wonderful. Unfortunately, I missed the sweet spot of the bat one to many times and cracked the bat. Brand-new professional wood bats can be fairly expensive. In the past, you could always find old-school quality wood bats for a few bucks at your local flea market. I live in RESTON, there is no flea market!
What happened to Flea Markets? When I say FLEA MARKET, I’m not talking the crappy kind; I’m referring to little slices of cultural bliss like Eastern Market. Organic produce, unnecessary knickknacks, and old school WOOD BATS.
NO MORE ROCK WEDNESDAYS!!!!
Rock Wednesday has been terminated. Our new Wednesday initiative at Transmutation of a Green Buddhist is to introduce you to an artist you probably do not know. So from this day forward we will have “Who you should listen to" Wednesdays. I will also add music from that artist on my playlist if their music is not already present. Hope you enjoy!!!

My Favorite Artist

I Love the work of Stella Im Hultberg. Her art has an amazing way of catching feminity and edginess all in one. I guess what I love in my wife I love in my art.
Here are some of her links:

Going Going Back Back to Cali Cali
RAGE IN THE CAGE!!!!!!

We made a stop at the batting cage as part of the bro-in-law’s farewell VA tour. I was my usual Johnny Baseball self, belting homeruns off fast pitch. The surprise came in the form of a spunky hitting machine known as The Wife. The wife claimed she had never been to a batting cage before, yet she belted hit after hit after hit and she did it in the medium speed cage.
We will be holding a hitting exhibition for scouts of corporate co-ed softball leagues. The wife demands a mirror in the dugout!!!

ALIVE AND WELL!!!!!

Our dog Amber use to be the best bitch in the world. After hooking up with bad running mates, Amber developed some bad habits that landed her in the penitentiary (aka Dog Crate). Amber has dropped her running mates. We have her in a work release program in an attempt to get her behavior back to great so she can ditch the crate.
I have noticed when Grandma talks to Noah she often asks, “Where is Amber?” I think grandma is more concerned about Amber’s well-being than she generally lets on. I wonder if Grandma expects Noah to tell her Amber has passed on to the Doggy Heaven in the Sky !!
I am pleased to report Amber is not only alive but she is cleaning up her act and putting on some healthy weight. I have included the picture of Amber enjoying newly reinstated TV privileges since I know Grandma often checks this blog.
Grandma send Amber a kite!!
(Urban Dictionary 1. kite; Correspondence received while incarcerated.
My cuz sent me a kite...told me to hold it down while I' m doin' my bid.)
Bad Belly Bear
The bloke had a bad night, and when the bloke has a bad night we all have a bad night, especially mommy.
Apparently fathers day dinner did not sit well with young bear. Around 2am mommy awoke to the sound of the little one throwing up. My wonderful wife went into full out mommy mode as she cleaned up the bloke then cleaned up his room while I entertained the drained tot. I retreated to the bedroom as mom and bloke camped out on the living room floor and watched cartoons.
The bloke is back to his old self this morning. He woke mommy up from her ever to short sleep with the sounds of music videos. I wish I could have a Venti 3 Splenda Skim Iced Doubleshot with energy shipped to wifey.

MAN-ASS-AS
Good Ole West Virginia
I really do feel for my coworkers who moved out to West Virginia to build their dream homes. The part of WVA in this video is actually considered somewhat a suburb of Washington. People commute to the city from here every day.
LOOK WHAT THE CLAN IS UP TO NOW!!!!
I first saw this video and thought, "why bother blogging about fox news continuous ridiculousness? ". When I expressed that sentiment to a coworker he said, "Yea its like.. look what the clan is up to now" !!!!!BRILLIANT!!!! For now on I will just post their garbage with that headline.

NEW YORK NEW YORK

To walk around the big city. How I miss enjoying the sounds, enjoying the smells, enjoying the beauty enjoying the flaws. Sometimes I can smell the city in the rain of my quaint planned community.
I live in a planned community!!!!!!
No matter how many times I type it I can’t digest it.
Give me thick city air, give me the wonder of variation.
Do I want my wife and son to live their whole lives in a world of cookie cutter homes?
How do I stop waiting for the “go-ahead” to live where I want?
When will it be the “right time” to move?
How long will I stand for being unhappy with my surroundings?
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ~Mark Twain

RAT SNAKE MOAN!!!!!!

I work for a large company with an exceptionally large campus that spans across protected wetlands. Must be beautiful right? Well, I use to think so. Today as I walked from the main campus building back to my office I crossed paths with a huge Rat Snake!!!!!!!!!! I happen to know rat snakes are harmless, but I never saw one slither in front of me, and the joker was the size of a small python. I would like to say I crotched down into the crocodile hunter stance and grabbed the snake by the tail and swung it out of harms way, but that of course would be a total fabrication. Instead I stood motionless and the broom sized snake slithered into the grass.
The most disturbing part of the encounter was the snake completely disappearing as it hit the 1 inch thick well maintained grass. This means those demons can be lurking anywhere hiding amongst the shadows of grass blades :(

I’ve been watching too many scary movies lately! I will stick to the campus sidewalks from now on.
UPDATE: The black rat snake (Elaphe obsoleta obsoleta) is the largest species of snake in Ohio. It can reach lengths of up to eight feet, averaging 42 - 72 inches. It is black with a faint gray or brown checkerboard pattern and white between its scales. They are native to most of Ohio. The black rat snakes habitat includes forests, farmlands, and old fields, where they find prey, including small rodents, birds and eggs.
Rat snakes are not poisonous. They will bite when startled or threatened and the bite looks very much like a human bite on the skin. It lacks the two distinct fang marks of a poisonous snake. While it does hurt it is not going to make you sick. Just wash the area carefully with soap and water and watch for signs of infection as you would with any other wound.

1..2....3.....CHEEEEEEEEESE

I'm not a huge MAC fan but apparently the bloke is. His normal Clubber Lang way of playing with everything is put on hold when he is using my MacBook. In contrast he has removed several buttons from my Viao laptop and uses the wireless desktop keyboard as a cricket bat. For the record using a laptop without a backspace button is not hot!
The bloke gets his vanity from his momma. She could be in solitary confinement and as long as she had makeup and a camera she would be totally content. My theory is the PHOTOBOOTH feature of the MacBook is why the bloke cherishes it so.

SCARY MOVIE NIGHT!!!!
Heed movie ratings! You would think a 17 month old wouldn’t know a scary movie from an episode of Oprah but this is not the case. I always shook my head at people allowing children to be present during violent or sexually based movies. I thought a physiological thriller would go right over my bloke’s head but his reaction to the first scene he saw caused us to pause the movie until we could get the bloke in the crib with a stomach full of milk. The bloke slept and we finished the thriller. He will have to wait another 16 years to see his next Rated R movie.
POTBELLY SWAG!!!
The bloke gets his potbelly honestly. It is a combination of genetics and the fact that his mom wouldn’t have it any other way. Who wants a skin and bones son when you can have the 17-month old version of an NFL linebacker?
Bear is a 95% organic baby; organic enough to meet all state standards besides California, so we cant blame the crap they put in non-organic food.
PS- I have known the WIFE to rub Noah down in oil after a bath; she said it was FLAX-SEED Oil (google: Barry bonds flaxseed oil)
ITs a JUNGLE OUT THERE!
I know most kids enjoy the outdoors but young Noah Bear takes it to the next level. From eating dirt to walking the dog Noah wants nothing more than to be outdoors. Today was Noah first pool day of the season and unfortunately I wasn’t around to snap photos. I was able to snap the snot nose gem above before going to work.
BTW- The sun is a great sleep-aid

The Blogger Formerly Known as Blogeezy

check out my little brothers blog!
http://pleaseinserthere.blogspot.com/
"I do not believe that the accident of birth makes people sisters and brothers. It makes them siblings. Gives them mutuality of parentage. Sisterhood and brotherhood are conditions people have to work at. It's a serious matter. You compromise, you give, you take, you stand firm, and you're relentless...And it is an investment. Sisterhood means if you happen to be in Burma and I happen to be in San Diego and I'm married to someone who is very jealous and you're married to somebody who is very possessive, if you call me in the middle of the night, I have to come.” ~ Maya Angelou
Hell Hath No Fury!

Has Hillary arrived at the point where she is harming future female candidates? I always figured as a shrewd politician she understood the reality of her uphill battle and felt she was skilled enough to alter it. Now I am of the opinion that she just does not live in reality. I think she needs to evaluate the change in attitude of the common male democrat that may have supported her at one point. I talked to male Hillary supporters that seem to be quite disturbed by her failure to accept defeat. Not surprisingly I hear more and more unfavorable analogies liking Hillary to a “typical woman”.
She should be more concerned of who she represents as one of the first female candidates to be a serious contender for the Whitehouse. She is not only losing the support of people who voted for her, she is also altering the opinion of people who at some point respected her as a candidate. Mason Cooley once said “Losing gracefully is commended but never chosen.”, I think Hillary is past the point of commending.
